Arts Marketplace was founded in January 2006 and official 501 c 3 status was granted by the IRS November 16, 2010. We consider ourselves social entrepreneurs—our mission, vision, and programs address needs that are not being addressed in this community. There is no other nonprofit in the City of Tucson or Pima County providing specialized business, marketing, and/or organizational support for creative artists and/or micro-entrepreneurs.
The Pima County Cultural Plan’s overarching goal for Capacity Building and Business Development is to “Increase the capacity and effectiveness of individual artists, creators and arts cultural organizations by enhancing collaborations, resource sharing, and resource development.” “LINC (Leveraging Investments in Creativity) believes that providing artists with a relevant system of support and resources will enhance their creative output, enabling them to make greater and more meaningful contributions to our communities and society as a whole.”
Arts Marketplace provides business training and professional development tools for individual artists and creative to gain exposure, advance their career and grow professionally.
Both the Arts Marketplace Gallery and Crafted: and urban design space help to sustain the programming work of Arts Marketplace.
In March 2011, Arts Marketplace relocated to the historic Market Inn building and continues to host artist exhibitions, educational events and conversations.
In March 2012, Arts Marketplace relocated to the Gangplank in the Bookman’s Event Center. We will continues to host artist exhibitions, educational events, workshops and conversations.
