“New Beginnings”

Arts Marketplace is proud to announce the first Annual Arts Marketplace Gallery exhibit, “New Beginnings”.  This show features artwork of various media by member artists and creative entrepreneurs.  The exhibit Opens January 28 and runs through March 5.

Regina Kelly: artist statement writing workshop

At this meeting Regina Kelly, founding director of VOICES and a business writing teacher and PhD candidate in UA’s English rhetoric and composition program led a bio writing workshop.  Kelly gave members tools and techniques on how to develop their own content and customize for the audience.

“New Beginnings” CALL TO ARTISTS

Artists & creative entrepreneurs have an opportunity to participate in “New Beginnings”, the first Annual Arts Marketplace Gallery exhibit.  The show will feature a sampling of member artists and creative entrepreneurs.  All media are welcome.

Start the new year with an accomplishment. At this meeting we will have a writing workshop and you will leave with a bio and artist statement – provided you come with the intent to work. Bring your items to Maynards Market where artists, tourists, and general public will gather to SWAP or SELL their art and artifacts. This is the perfect time to sell one of your treasures and maybe buy another one!  Items would include: Art supplies, art, wearable art, specific tools or wares of your media, jewelry, cool & funky kitchen items, books, artifacts and heirlooms.  Please keep in mind Maynards has graciously offered their patio space to collaborate with us and be mindful that it is highly visible location and successful location – no junk please.

All creative entrepreneurs and artists of all media are welcome.

First Meeting with Roberto from ACCION

Hi! I’m Meg Askey, and I’m a member of the Arts Marketplace. I’ve just started visiting with Therese and Miki on a regular basis and met Roberto Valdez-Beltran from ACCION last week.

Roberto and Therese provided me with a wealth of information that will help me start a (for now, mysterious) event in Arizona.  And I’m going to share my progress with you. It will help keep me motivated and on-task and maybe seeing my progress will inspire others.

The first meeting was a basic meet-n-greet. Well, that was what it was intended to be. It quickly expanded into a presentation of my event proposal and brainstorming session for fund raising. Roberto advised me on ways that ACCION could help me re-establish good credit and suggested some people in the community that might be able to help me raise money for my event.

I left feeling excited and motivated to succeed. Can’t wait to see Roberto again next week. I’ll keep you posted by, well, posting.
